Client
The client is an American corporation that provides specialized equipment, technology, and services to the oil and gas industry. The company already had a well drilling monitoring and data management platform in place to collect and visualize data in real time.
Challenge
Launched the system more than a decade ago, the client approached SoftTeco to modernize their legacy solution, implement new features, and update existing ones, as well as enhance real-time performance and reliability of the solution for future expansion.

Solution
The well drilling monitoring and control system is an IoT-based solution that automatically collects, visualizes, and analyzes real-time data remotely. It gathers parameters from hundreds of IoT sensors installed on drilling rigs, including pressure, depth, temperature, and speed. By integrating with the platform, it allows users to store and view drilling data in real time via a web browser. By connecting with the drill management platform, the system enables engineers to generate interactive dashboards, customized reports, and real-time analytics, providing full visibility into rig operations. The solution also provides tools for configuring client equipment, simulating real-time data for operator training, and automatically generating reports.
Today, the product offers an intuitive interface that enables engineers to monitor all drilling equipment, access historical and real-time data, and efficiently manage production processes. Overall, the IoT-driven platform helps make safe, accurate, and timely decision-making during drilling operations, cutting downtime and reducing costly operational risks.
Tech stack

How it works
On the frontend, SoftTeco was responsible for optimization and support of a Windows application that displays real-time data gathered from hundreds of IoT sensors installed on oil well drilling equipment. All parameters are displayed in real time through a user-friendly interface, allowing engineers to monitor any machine remotely, from anywhere, with minimal delay.
In addition, we implemented real-time data simulation. The feature verifies operators’ responses to drilling rig readings that demand their intervention. Our developers also added new UI features to improve solution usability, including interactive dashboards, graphs, and customized reports. They help engineers visualize sensor data and make timely decisions during drilling operations.
On the backend, we optimized dataflow performance so that the system could process a huge amount of data from hundreds of IoT sensors quickly. Moreover, our team improved rig backup and report services by automating data storage and updating C#/C++ libraries for report and log generation. We also modified REST and WCF endpoints to support new functionality and ensure flawless integration with external systems. Finally, engineers implemented unit tests to validate new features, prevent regressions, and ensure high system stability.
