Client
The client is a US medical corporation that operates a network of pharmacies and provides medical systems and health services. Their goal was to combine clinical care with gamification to improve chronic health issues. The client sought to adapt its legacy application for their own devices and to expand functionality by incorporating interactive features.
Challenge
The client had only a basic idea of the application, with no defined requirements and design. The app had a legacy backend and was hosted on the client’s side, which slowed feedback and complicated integration and testing. We also had to ensure device compatibility with the client’s devices, connection to third-party systems, and add new features – all within 90 days before real users would test it.
Solution
A cross-platform application is designed to help individuals track and manage overall wellness and chronic conditions. It is intended for people with prediabetes health conditions, Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, and those who care about their health. It allows users to track key metrics, such as blood glucose, blood pressure, pulse, A1C, weight, BMI, steps, calories, activity levels, as well as medication adherence.
One of the app’s key features is an animated health coach. She guides users through physical exercises, interactive videos, and keeps them motivated. Users can set personalized goals and earn game-like rewards for achieving daily goals and maintaining regular healthy habits.
The system integrates with IoT-enabled applications, including Apple Health, Samsung Health, Fitbit, client’s glucometers, and blood pressure monitors. Through such integrations, users can automatically collect, monitor, and track their health parameters. Apart from that, the app offers customizable charts and analytics that allow individuals to visualize parameters and track their progress. Its interactive interface and gamification features make self-care more convenient and engaging.

How it works
Having expertise in medical software development for healthcare, we designed a cross-platform application for health and chronic condition management using React Native. Our development team consisted of a designer, 3 developers, a QA engineer, and a project manager. We started with feature analysis and requirements clarification, then offered certain solutions to the client and worked alongside the client’s backend team. The IoT app was developed with a microservice architecture to ensure compatibility on both Android and iOS platforms.
First of all, our developers created APIs and the backend logic of the app for core features, like authorization, registration, user management. The app was also connected with third-party services, such as Apple Health, Samsung Health, and Fitbit, to set up the retrieval of data regarding the user’s health status. In parallel, we delivered a neumorphic design that combines minimalism, realistic user interface with the animation, and easy navigation. Once the client approved the initial design versions, we implemented the UI on top of the backend logic.
After that, our developers implemented an animated full-time live coach, interactive videos, exercises, healthy habit tips, and gamification elements (earn points, badges, and rewards). We added customizable dashboards, charts, and progress tracking features for engaging user experience.
As part of the healthcare monitoring app, we improved the old version of the existing application and created its white-label system, making it suitable for many brands. Our team developed a new UI and integrated a couple of desired features.

Results
