Challenge
A client from Israel offers two web platforms, Artlist and Artgrid, for license-free digital content creation, editing, and distribution. Recently, the client also acquired FXhome software for VFX, (visual effects) and video editing and added it to Artlist.
The main challenge that the client faced was the need to update Artlist’s architecture, expand its functionality, and improve overall performance. Moreover, FXhome required modifications to align with the Artlist brand. When the client approached SoftTeco, our data scientists, designers, and development teams were glad to accept the challenge.
Solution
Artlist is a subscription-based platform that offers royalty- free music, sound effects (SFX), and stock footage. The platform provides two interfaces for users and creators. Artist has a regularly updated library with a wide range of content and advanced search based on tags. Moreover, the platform offers a personalized experience via app integration and a recommendation system created from scratch by SoftTeco. To align with Artlist’s brand identity, SoftTeco built FXhome from scratch, redesigned it and integrated many new features.

How it works
With the client’s team, SoftTeco updated Artlist’s architecture, rewrote the backend and frontend using React.js and. NET. The platform provided two user interfaces: for a creator and a user, each with its own admin panel. A free user account allows users to access unlimited assets to test with watermarks. A subscription offers unlimited access to license-free content with multiple payments. A creator account allows users to track uploaded content, manage it, and receive royalties from their works.
Hence, SoftTeco enhanced both interfaces for initiative navigation for a smooth user experience. Our team improved Artlist’s features to make it more user-friendly by adding a regularly updated library with a wide selection of content and advanced search based on tags. To empower users and provide cutting-edge tools, we integrated HitFilm and Imerge apps into Artlist, available through a Max subscription. The platform is equipped with an ML-powered recommendation system created from scratch by our data scientists. It analyzes users’ profiles, hypothesizes, and offers more relevant products. With an ML-powered and semi-automated MMM package, we build ML models for this system, deploy them in the cloud, and update them automatically. Thus, Artlist offers a highly personalized user experience and enables companies to allocate marketing budgets accordingly.

To align with Artlist’s identity, SoftTeco completely redesigned FXhome and integrated many new features. We also built a personal profile with many subscriptions for video making and payment options, where users can receive discounts for Artlist. Our team built a reward system for FXhome to encourage video creators for their work. We also created part of the onboarding process for its editing application and maintained it after launch.
Results
SoftTeco effectively collaborated with the client’s in-house development team, and together we updated architecture and improved Artlist’s overall functionality per the client’s requirements. We built a recommendation system from scratch and integrated it into the platform. To align with the Artlist identity, we also completely redesigned FXhome and added many new functions. Now, SoftTeco provides ongoing support for Artlist and will continue to enhance its functionality.
